Winner of the photo competition announced
Trevor Sims of Lavant Road in Chichester is the lucky winner of
the Graylingwell Park photo competition. Trevor's striking picture
of wild poppies encapsulates the essence of Graylingwell Park and
will now be used in future advertising and marketing.
Tracy Shepherd, sales advisor at Linden Homes, recently
presented Trevor with his first prize, a cheque for £1000, at the
development.
Emily Nesbit, Head of Sales & Marketing at Linden Homes,
says: "We want to involve members of the public in the scheme as
much as possible and launched the photo competition as one of the
ways of doing this. Graylingwell Park is all about 'limitless
living' and we were absolutely delighted with the quality of the
entries.
"Trevor's wild poppies photograph, which was taken near
Goodwood, has a limitless feel about it; the vibrant colours
combined with dynamic depth of the field reflect the beautiful
environment surrounding Graylingwell Park. You get a real feel of
an English summer's day with this picture."
Trevor, a retired horticulturist, has lived in Chichester for 28
years and is a member of the Chichester Camera Club. He says: "We
have a lot of poppies in the area and it is a sight we associate
with the countryside and the wonderful landscape we live in. I felt
my photograph would work well for Graylingwell Park which not only
has a beautiful semi-rural setting but includes energy and
environmental conservation to ensure it will be good for years to
come. My wife Pam and I are impressed with the scheme and are
following its development with interest".
The second prize of £500 went to photographer Kate
Hopewell-Smith of Chetwode for her picture of her daughter Kia with
a starfish. Emily says: "We have excellent beaches near
Graylingwell Park and this lovely picture captures beach life
without being clichéd. It's a beautiful subject with striking
colours and strong composition." Kate says: "I feel this photograph
sums up the idea of young children enjoying the freedom to explore
the beach."
Julie Rooker, a housewife who lives in West Ashling, Chichester,
was awarded the third prize of £200 for her delightful photograph
of pigs at a nearby farm. Emily says: "This is a memorable picture
that symbolises country life and captures the character of the
herding pigs." Julie adds: "I love walking and particularly enjoy
the wildlife in this area. When I came across these pigs near
Funtington I just had to take their picture."
